A note from the publishers:
"The 36 Etudes Transcendantes for trumpet by Theophile Noel Charlier were written at the beginning of this century; the manuscript is conserved by M. Pierre Cox, at the present a teacher at the Liege Royal Conservatory.
The studies are for advanced players who should have already acquired a solid technique. There are no doubt other studies which include more acrobatic leaps, more complex rhythms and melodies than these, as well as other which will introduce the student to contemporary music. We can nevertheless confirm that the student who makes the necessary effort to master the pieces in this book will be rewarded well beyond their expectations, for far from composing mere technical exercises, Charlier infused them with great musicianship."
