This lively "Tarantella" in 6/8 also features some work for double stops that adds to its interest and effect. Squire's Tarantella is one piece that is nearly as fun for the listener as it is the player! William Squire was a cellist as well as a composer, and as a result this piece is very idiomatic and sounds a lot harder than it actually is. Understandably this makes it a popular performance piece for developing cellists, one that tends to stick in cellists repertoires.
